When an improvised clinometer is not enough for an accurate latitude reading: two optical glass plates and a micrometer that returns the sun’s altitude much more precisely, and fits in your change pocket. Can be used on land or on the water.
The NAVIGATOR’s plumb-bob clinometer will take a noon-sun altitude, but a hanging string and a shadow only go so far. BREES is the tighter analog instrument: two optical glass plates and a micrometer that computes solar altitude. There is no arc, no vernier, and no engraved scale. Read the altitude directly from the micrometer. Training and emergency backup; not a certified marine sextant. Coming soon.
